TIME – Exact Steps to Find 8 More Hours Every Week

Unique Time Management Strategies
Designed for the Solo Entrepreneur

“If finding an extra 8 hours each week is what you want, you must look at the effect your everyday habits have on your time and life.”

It’s all about time and
how your habits determine use of your time.

The word ENOUGH has a very special place at the core of everything that is quantified in my quarterly plans for 2020. It is what determines specific quantities of income, time, effort, and a whole lot more.
ENOUGH describes something different for each of us but you will hear me refer to it a lot when we are together and when you are determining what you want from your goals.
You can free up ENOUGH time to start or grow a business, make ENOUGH money to live comfortably, have ENOUGH time for things that matter to you and ENOUGH income to enjoy them.

Enough is the key.

So, decide what is ENOUGH for you. It’s part of what I help you work out in the 5-Day course I teach to quick start your business and get your mindset right for success.

TIME – Exact Steps to Find 8 More Hours Every Week

8 more hours each week is ENOUGH to begin your journey to becoming a Solo Lady CEO. It’s ENOUGH to decide if you are willing to make the Mindset and Habits shifts to create a successful and profitable business you work from home as a Solo Entrepreneur.
Your success in life and business depends on your habits. If you want something you don’t have now, you’re going to have to look at your habits and identify what is keeping you from getting what you want and evaluate what you can do NOW to get what you want.
Freeing up TIME to do what is important means you must isolate the actions in your life that are sucking the time out of your days.  And, you must do this ruthlessly and without bias.

1. Life is all about habits. Habits rule your life.
Habits and TIME are in some ways synonymous.

Habits make or waste your time.

You can’t make more TIME so you must stop wasting countless hours each week – don’t fritter away your precious time.

If you want more time you must have a mindset shift.

Your mindset shift enables you to realize that ONLY YOU are in charge of your time. You are the source where your time comes from. You can make as much of it as you want.  It just takes a smart and realistic mindset shift.

Most important is the art of saying NO.

The art of saying NO means you NEVER say yes immediately when asked to make a new commitment.
NEVER commit on the spur of the moment unless it is something you have been chasing and you finally caught! The smart reply is “Thanks for asking. I’ll get back with you if it fits and will work.  I always check my calendar before making commitments.”
It’s all about your calendar and the commitments you are willing and able to make. And, if it moves you forward to your goals.

You have control, REALLY!

If you overload your schedule, your mouth over rules your judgment and the reality of what you actually should do.  Suddenly you are stressed to the MAX and CHAOS becomes the norm and ruler! You feel overwhelmed, even mad at yourself. Blood pressure will verify this.
NEVER let others control you.  You must distinguish between
1. urgent and critical
2. your priority or someone else’s priority
3. necessary or just plain fluff.

It’s your life! Live it your way.

By controlling your time and your calendar you are powerful!  You choose what to calendar and what you WANT to do. And life becomes enjoyable, the way it should be!
2. Maybe you want to save 8 hours each week to plan and start a side business to grow and replace your day job or just have more income. Maybe you just want that time to do something special that doesn’t quite fit into your life now.
Decide what is important to you right now and what you are willing to do to get it.
To reclaim wasted or lost hours you must have a change of mindset.
You must really, really want the invigorating breeze of change in your life!
Change may seem like more chaos until you get everything smoothed out.  And you will find that people come out of the woodwork to try to sabotage your new way of controlling your time.
Your first step is to figure out where the time gaps or misuse are, 30 minutes here and 60 minutes there. Are you not maximizing your time? Time is one of the most important resources in your life.  It is critical to be selective in how you spend it.  Place a value on every minute of your time.

3. Here’s another key to finding time!
You are the image of the 5 people you hang out with.

Take a hard look at the people you hang out with.  Are time wasters? Do they lack focus on things of value? Do they talk big without a plan or action? Spending time with them, you are likely to follow that same pattern.
You must hang with positive and like-minded people. These people will support and encourage you when it’s time to make your life change.
Create your unique inner circle barrier rope and stick to it.
Only those people who prove their friendship with support and positive attitudes, behaviors and values should be allowed into your inner circle.  Your inner circle is just a FEW people who are TRUSTED to give advice, critique and support when you need it.  And, you do the same for each of your inner circle connections.

Look at your friends & your business or work associates.

Sometimes you must make really hard decisions.  I know because I had to do that.  I was very active in a local Chamber of Commerce.  I found that the networking activities and the volunteer time I invested was only spinning wheels.  I was so busy!  It felt good but frustrating.
That kind of busy was not growing my business.  It was costing me time, money and conditional temporary connections. They were non-existent when out of sight.  What a wild awakening when I finally realized this! Now 10 years some remember you, some don’t bother to speak. Rarely do I even see them.

I bit the bullet!
I made changes that were needed but not always easy.

I became a loner of sorts while I evaluated what was working and got rid of what was not working. I created balance in BOTH my personal life and my business life.  I had to get out of a lopsided balance.

I had to make changes to grow my business and
find joy in life.

My re-evaluation process led to so many great changes.  I reinvented my business model, changed my platform and lifted the lid on earnings.
It has been mind-blowing and I have loved every minute of it!  You can read more about my experiences and inner circle on my website, http://coffeehourbusiness.com/welcome-to-coffee-hour-business/.
If your dream goal isn’t BIG enough to make you want change, then make it BIGGER!

If your goal isn’t BIG it isn’t worth the work.

4. Think about the difference between busy and productive.
Both take the same amount of TIME, but one produces great results and the other costs you your dream.
If you are serious about writing to create a side business or make a living online to get control of your destiny, adding 8 hours to your week is a HUGE start.
If those who are part of your life (partner, spouse, family, close friends) don’t buy in and support you when you decide to change your mindset, you must let them know you are serious about the direction you are taking your life.
Changes will affect how you decide what does and does not fit your schedule right now. But, reaching your goal will be great for everyone.
When you find yourself under pressure and feeling overwhelmed, pause for a moment and ask yourself a very simple question:

“Will what I am doing matter a day, a week, a month,
or a year from now?”

To get started saving 8 hours a week, list all the activities and commitments in your life.
5. Do a massive Big Brain Dump.  List everything you have accumulated on lists, notes, calendars, to-do lists onto one massive list.  Weed it out based on the A,B,C and D ratings below.
Identify each item and task on your Big Brain Dump list as urgent, critical, fluffy or tasks that won’t matter if they don’t ever get accomplished.  Rate each item A, B, C, D.

A = Absolutely critical to my dream goal or my day to day life.

tems MUST be scheduled first. Schedule A items at the start of each month and DO NOT SKIP completing them in their assigned time block.  If a calendar change must happen, the A item MUST be rescheduled not skipped.  Don’t make reschedules a habit!

B = Important and scheduled after A items.

This includes personal and business appointments, anything time sensitive, project tasks, personal and chosen to do activities, group meetings, etc. This also means tasks and committments that are not just fluff and sucking your time.

C = Tasks that need to be done at some point but are not critical or time sensitive.

Weed out the C items. If they aren’t necessary, cross them off.

D = Cross these tasks off!  It doesn’t matter if D items ever get done.  Elimination will have no impact on anything.

Letting go of any C or D frees you of stress!  These are the lists that are usually many pages long and nothing but stress inducing each time the task pops up for re-reading or scheduling.

Repeat this process before the start of each month. Let go of any activity or commitment that no longer serves you or is necessary.

1. You CAN do it!
2. Just say NO!
3. Never commit to ANYTHING until you consider ALL the implications.
Your standard reply when asked to commit to anything should always be “I’ll get back with you on this.  I never make instant decisions.”  Other people’s priorities are not necessarily yours and they must respect this.

Don’t be a doormat!
Likewise, respect others’ time when asking for it.

I have had to cut back on some community service I have been involved in for the last 10+ years.  Interestingly, there were no “Thank you so much, we will miss you” comments.
Life really is an out of sight, out of mind adventure!  It’s not so much intentional, just a fact! If you are not in their face, you are invisible. You must be selective in what you consider taking on.

We all need re-energizing time.
Take care of yourself.
Your health and image depend on it!

6. Take breaks from your electronic world.  Batch process email, Facebook, all your social media, phone calls.
Don’t let phone calls interrupt your scheduled time block or private time. Let the calls go to voice mail.  Screen calls if you must but don’t answer.

Waiting is a trap! Don’t get caught in it!
